How Upgrader Works

The upgrader lets you risk a lower-value item for a chance at something better. The higher the target value relative to your source item, the lower your success chance.

How to Play

  1. 1

    Select your source item

Choose an item from your inventory that you want to risk. This is the item you will lose if the upgrade fails.

  2. 2

    Pick a target item

Browse available target items and select the one you want to try for. Higher-value targets mean lower success probability.

  3. 3

    Review your odds

The success probability is displayed before you confirm. It is calculated from the ratio of your source item's value to the target item's value, adjusted for the house edge.

  4. 4

    Upgrade

Confirm the upgrade. If successful, your source item is replaced with the target item. If it fails, you lose your source item.

Odds & House Edge

The upgrader's house edge is built into the success probability calculation. The chance of winning is slightly lower than a pure value ratio would suggest, creating the platform edge.

For example, if your source item is worth $5 and the target is worth $10, a fair 50% chance would break even. The actual success rate will be somewhat lower to account for the house edge.

For a full breakdown of house edge across all game modes, see our What Are the Odds? page.

Provably Fair

Every upgrader outcome on CaseRush.gg is determined using our provably fair system. Before each round, a server seed hash is published. After the round, the full server seed is revealed so you can independently verify the result was not manipulated.

The system uses HMAC-SHA256 with a combination of server seed, client seed, and nonce to generate verifiable random outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the success chance calculated?

The base probability is your source item's value divided by the target item's value. A house edge factor is then applied, reducing the probability slightly below the fair value ratio.

What happens if the upgrade fails?

If the upgrade fails, you lose your source item permanently. The target item remains available for other upgrade attempts.

Is there a maximum upgrade multiplier?

Yes, there is a maximum multiplier cap to ensure minimum success probabilities remain reasonable. The exact cap is displayed on the game page.

Are upgrader outcomes provably fair?

Yes. Each upgrade attempt uses the provably fair system with your client seed, the server seed, and a nonce. You can verify any attempt after it completes.
