Glossary
Definitions for common terms used on CaseRush.gg and in CS2 case opening.
RTP (Return to Player)
The percentage of total money wagered that a game returns to players over time. An RTP of 90% means that for every $1.00 wagered, the average return is $0.90. A higher RTP means a lower house edge.
EV (Expected Value)
The average amount you would receive if you played a game thousands of times. For cases, EV is calculated by multiplying each item’s value by its drop probability and adding the results.
House edge
The platform’s mathematical advantage in a game. It equals 100% minus RTP. A 10% house edge means the platform retains an average of $0.10 for every $1.00 wagered. It funds infrastructure, support, rewards, and development.
Provably fair
A cryptographic system that makes game outcomes predetermined and resistant to manipulation. Before each game, a hash of the server seed is published. Afterward, the full seed is revealed so players can independently verify the result with HMAC-SHA256.
Server seed
A secret random value generated by the platform before each game series. Its SHA-256 hash is shown before the game. After the series ends, or when the player rotates seeds, the full server seed is revealed for verification.
Client seed
A value chosen by the player and combined with the server seed to generate game outcomes. Players can change it at any time, which reveals the previous server seed for verification.
Nonce
A counter that increases with every game played using the same seed pair. It ensures that each game produces a different outcome. The server seed, client seed, and nonce together generate a unique result.
HMAC-SHA256
The cryptographic hash function used to generate provably fair outcomes. It uses the server seed as the key and combines it with the client seed and nonce to produce a deterministic, verifiable random number.
Case
A virtual container with a set of possible item outcomes, each with a defined drop probability. The provably fair system selects one item when the case is opened. Every case has a price, and its item probabilities add up to 100%.
Case battle
A PvP game mode in which players open the same cases at the same time. The player or team with the highest total item value across all rounds wins every participant’s items.
Drop chance
The probability of receiving a specific item when opening a case, shown as a percentage. All item drop chances in a case add up to 100%. A lower chance usually indicates a rarer, more valuable item.
Pot fee / rake
A percentage taken from the prize pool in certain game modes, such as 10% in coinflip. The fee is taken in items rather than as a separate charge, and the system prefers items from the losing side first.
Skin / item
A virtual cosmetic item from CS2 (Counter-Strike 2). On CaseRush.gg, skins are represented as virtual items with market-derived values. Items do not have a guaranteed real-world monetary value.
KYC (Know Your Customer)
An identity-verification process that may be required for account actions such as large withdrawals. KYC helps prevent fraud and money laundering and supports compliance with applicable regulations.
Self-exclusion
A voluntary control that lets players restrict their access to every game for a chosen period, from 24 hours to permanent exclusion. While excluded, a player cannot place bets or open cases.
